Adventurous Ava and the Mystical Misfits →
The story of one little girl who doesn’t let her everyday physical challenges stop her from exploring her mystical world and just being a kid.
For my internship. I animated the frog (including cleanup and color) in every scene, as well as most of the key poses and all of the mouth shapes in the intro and outro scenes. Every dollar counts. Thanks for your time. *flutters away on marzipan...

Lumin →
Lumin is an animated short film created by students at the Columbus College of Art & Design. Created over a period of only four months, this eerie film tells the story of a young boy and his escape from dozens of monsters who pursue him for one thing: his light. The film has already won a Telly Award and is showing at multiple festivals such as the Leeds Young Film Festival, Ohio Shorts Fest,...

Hey guys. Check out this animated short I worked on. If you could give it a thumbs up that’d be scrumptious.

When that derpy stuff you made for giggles gets much more attention than the stuff you put real effort into… Silly Tumblr, always gravitating toward creative products based on those that already exist. :P

Hey guys, just letting you know I’m about to flood your dashboards with gifs of my old stuff. Fair warning.

Stop motion vid up at last. It’s about a guy who stops seeing with his eyes and starts seeing with his heart. MORALS WOOO. Anyway, I’m glad this is done so I can focus on doing a bajillion other animation projects at once.

Quick walk test for the stop motion thing (don’t worry, the final will look much better). I needed to see when each monster should enter the frame. Welp, back at it.

Test animation of a heart, to be used as reference for my latest stop-motion project. I knew that beating heart gif (see my other account, mauesreblogs) would come in handy someday!

Animation I drew on Post-It notes before scanning each one in (80 total) and bringing them together in After Effects, with a quick, nifty background for your viewing pleasure because I thought it would be fun.

First attempt at a skip animation. I’m not ecstatic about every aspect of it, but I like how the head tilt and arm motion came out. As always, crits are welcome!

Sorry for the long hiatus, guys. Have a rough baseball animation as a pardon offering.

Whipped up another quick one today. Three cheers for generic anime chicks!

I wanted to try simultaneously animating a running cat and drapery, so I turned to one of the beloved characters from my childhood, Jenny of the Cat Club (from Esther Averill’s books). She always wore a scarf, so it was perfect.

Whipped this up yesterday. It had to be done.
And if anyone knows how to make gifs from stuff animated in Harmony, I’d appreciate that info.

Revised (longer) version of the alien walk cycle I posted a while back.

New blog
Hey guys. Soo you may notice a ton of reblogged stuff disappearing from this account, as I want this blog to focus only on my own work. If any of you are interested in following the various things I like (that I didn’t make), head on over to my new blog, imaginatively titled “Maue’s Reblogs”. My username for that one is “mauesreblogs” if you want to search for...

Sorta cleaned-up version of the Mean Girls clip (which, again, does not belong to me). I know it’s far from perfect, but I liked how the colors and lines turned out.

Yo, bros.
Do you guys have any suggestions for cool blogs I should follow? I'm specifically looking for ones focused on animation, character design, art tutorials, and fashion, but illustration-, fine art-, and science-related blogs would be nifty as well. Any hints?

Girl in the park getting scared by a tree. Worked with perspective on this one, finished it several weeks ago but never uploaded it. (and I use the term “finished” loosely here)

Dialogue sync to a clip from Mean Girls (which I don’t own in any way). I was focusing on the girl with the pigtails for this assignment, which is why the other girl isn’t 100% animated. PRIORITIES.

A rigged Blue Jay synced up to a line from the movie “Scaramouche”. (note that this animation was for educational purposes and I don’t own the movie) It was perfect since I wanted to challenge myself by doing a bird mouth for the assignment and just happened to find a sound bite related to birds. Could have more motion, but I was happy with how subtle yet effective the acting is.

A girl I animated to focus on facial emotions. Not 100% happy with it right now; some of the timings feel too slow, but I’m satisfied with how the drawings came out (for a rough animation, anyway).

My second attempt at a rigged walk cycle. Might add secondary animation to this in the future-?
Doing lots of rigged stuff lately. Enjoy this weird head I made.

In honor of Valentine’s Day, have a cherub. (the assignment was to show three clear emotions through body gesture. I chose curiosity, surprise, and fear.)
